CERTIFY in Trento

Certify Presentation

On February, 10th, a project clustering meeting was organized in Trento, to create synergies among projects funded within the context of call HORIZON-CL3-2021-CS-01. CERTIFY participated to the meeting, where Luigi Coppolino from Trust Up presented the approach CERTIFY has taken to provide protection of IoT devices throughout their lifecycle. The representative of the CROSSCON project, namely Matjaz Breskvar from Beyond Semiconductor, presented CROSSCON activities.

Synergies

Synergies were identified with respect to protection mechanisms for data “in use” (e.g. it is loaded in the RAM or in the CPU for executing a computation) based on Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) technology. Great interest was expressed by Matjaz with respect to the ongoing work related to the architectural TEE extensions for MCU-class RISC-V cores being under design in Certify. Prof. Crispi, from the University of Trento, also expressed interest in a more detailed understanding of threat assumptions for the use cases and a fruitful discussion came out from this.

Summary of Presentation

Finally the Encrypt project was also presented. The project was funded under a different topic in the HORIZON-CL3-2021-CS-01 call but some interesting insights were provided which captured the interest of the audience, especially with respect to the blended usage of Homomorphic Encryption and TEEs. It was decided that another project clustering meeting will be held in Naples in June, 2023.
